Once elected, Nixon's ironclad anti-Communist credentials paradoxically enabled him to engage with China and Russia in ways previous presidents found difficult, and he would usher in a period of comparative détente in the Cold War, including finally getting the US out of Vietnam (though at a considerable price). Of course, he will mostly be remembered for his re-election campaign and the subsequent Watergate Scandal, which led to the first (and so far, only) presidential resignation in US history.
Join Simon to explore the rise and fall of America's 37th president.
