Following last month's talk on the links between the Renaissance and the Reformation, Simon will explore how the next stage of the Protestant Reformation unfolded in Europe.
Most of us probably remember Martin Luther from our school history lessons, as he nailed his 95 Theses to the church door in Wittenberg. But why exactly did this cause such a stir, and how did his ideas spread so far and so fast?
Just as importantly, how did those ideas find expression in different ways in different nations - including, ultimately, in England?
Hi, I’m Simon, my love for literature and history began with the Tudors. I studied English at Cambridge and earned a PhD in History. I teach in person and online, and have led tours across the UK and Europe to the places I teach about.
