VIA is committed to providing an inclusive, accessible, and welcoming learning platform for everyone, regardless of age, background, location, ability, or confidence with digital technology.
From the earliest stages of development, accessibility has been a core principle of VIA. We have worked closely with accessibility specialists, drawn on feedback from a wide range of learners, and consulted individuals with professional experience of neurodiversity to ensure the platform meets diverse needs.
VIA has been designed to support a variety of learning styles and access requirements. This includes clear and consistent navigation, carefully considered colour palettes and fonts to reduce visual stress, and the ability to adjust colour modes. The platform is compatible with screen readers, responsive across devices, and designed to provide a calm, flexible user experience whether accessed on desktop, tablet, or mobile.
We recognise that accessibility is an ongoing process. We are committed to regularly reviewing and improving VIA based on user feedback, evolving standards, and best practice to ensure the platform continues to feel intuitive, supportive, and accessible to all learners.
If you experience any difficulty accessing content on VIA or have suggestions for how we can improve accessibility, please contact the Learning and Development team at VIA@nfwi.org.uk, who are available Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm.
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) is a set of standards that must be adhered to in order to ensure accessibility for people with disabilities. There are 3 defined levels of conformance: A, AA and AAA. The VIA Website is conformant with WCAG 2.2 AA.
VIA is designed so everyone feels welcome and able to learn with confidence. We’ve worked hard to make the platform easy to use, flexible, and accessible for people with different needs, abilities, and levels of digital confidence.
You can adjust how VIA looks to suit you, including colour options to reduce visual strain. The platform works with screen readers, adapts to different devices, and is laid out in a clear, simple way to make finding and enjoying courses easier.
We know accessibility isn’t something you do once, it’s something you keep improving. If anything on VIA doesn’t work well for you, or you have suggestions to help us do better, our Learning and Development team is here to help and would love to hear from you.
