Join Felicity to learn how to crochet this striking dragonfly keyring, designed by Plumstead Roses WI member Hannah Joyce in support of the WI Week of River Action.
This creative act of craftivism is more than just a fun project; it can be a conversation starter, or a thoughtful gift for your MP. A small handmade piece can be a powerful way to spark attention and shine a spotlight on this campaign.

Between 29 September and 5 October 2026, the WI Week of River Action returns, and we need you to help make waves! Join hundreds of WIs raising awareness and taking action for better water quality as part of our Clean Rivers for People and Wildlife campaign.
We’ve been campaigning on water pollution for nearly 100 years, and we’re deeply concerned about the growing evidence that sewage, both raw and treated, is a major pathway for microplastics and other harmful substances to enter nature and the food chain. Even when wastewater reaches treatment plants, microplastics and other pollutants don’t just disappear. They’re largely retained in sewage sludge, which is then spread on to farmland. We urgently need much more information and transparency about what is in the sludge.
If you craft a Clean Rivers dragonfly, don’t forget to send us a photo! We can also send you a postcard you can use to send the dragonfly to your MP.
Whether you’re organising a local stunt, a river walk, crafting a display, or hosting an event, your actions matter. Read more about our Clean Rivers campaign and the Week of River Action on our website. Members and supporters can access our Week of River Action toolkit on My WI.
